Pocket Repeaters

New version of Pocket Repeaters now available on the download page!

My apologies to all those people who have been waiting for the new version of Pocket Repeaters. In particular for those who have been stuck with an old version that would not update since the changes on the UK Repeaters website. Due to some personal problems this year and also some illness, I have not been able to dedicate the time to my extra curricular projects that I would like. However, at last, I am proud to announce the latest version of Pocket Repeaters to run on Pocket PC devices.

Phase 1. Pocket Repeaters Version 1.1 - Now Complete for Pocket PC!
A reworking of Pocket Repeaters using the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework is now complete. I am also looking at making up a version for Microsoft Windows based mobile telephones. Watch this space for further news..

Phase 2. Pocket Repeaters 2
The new version of Pocket Repeaters is intended to listen to any connected GPS device and show your nearest repeaters bassed on your position. For those who do not have a GPS, OS grid references can be entered instead.

I have also been asked if PR can provide information for repeaters in other countries. I will be looking at this as a possibility.

To help keep up development of Pocket Repeaters and help offset the costs, I am considering making a charge for Pocket Repeaters in the near future. Please feel free to email me if you have any comments on this, or of course an indication of the price you would be willing to pay. I have a figure of £10 or £20 in mind. Most likely as an 'honesty' payment, i.e. the software will not be limited but the user will have it on the conscience that non payment may prevent any future updates of the software.

Pocket Repeaters

Pocket Repeaters is free software designed for Pocket PC devices. Using data direct from RMCWEB, amateur radio enthusiasts can sort and retrieve information about repeaters in the UK. For those with an available internet connection, the application can connect to RMCWEB to retrieve the latest data, keeping your database fully up to date.

The morse features of Pocket Repeaters has been suspended as the author was not entirely happy that it was reliable. Look out for this being resurrected in a later version. After a kind donation of a GPS system, again from Richard Pullen, I will soon start work on having the software inform you of your nearest repeaters from your current GPS position in Pocket Repeaters version 2 later this year.
